Our Mission
Kanawha County Schools Community Education Program exists to provide a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children within Kanawha County, while offering activities and support to the community as a whole. Our focus is to provide a stimulating environment that will promote social/emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
KCSCEP offers 3 programs: Third Base After School, Summer Camp, and Adult Education.
While we are a part of Kanawha County Schools, KCSCEP operates from a separate budget as a non-profit provider of after school care and adult education opportunities. We do not receive funds from Kanawha County Schools or other government entities. The money we collect for child care services and adult education programs covers all operating expenses and is reinvested in the programs. We have also annually provided KCS with funding for new materials or special educational programs that promote drug awareness, bullying prevention and similar topics.
KCSCEP Director: Jennifer Mathis
KCSCEP Coordinator: John Peal
KCSCEP Specialist: Susan Nelson
We have an outstanding team of people who serve as Third Base Site Directors and Assistants, and we are always looking for people to join our team.
