About Us

Our Mission

Kanawha County Schools Community Education Program exists to provide a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children within Kanawha County. Our focus is to provide a stimulating environment that will promote social/emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

KCSCEP offers Third Base After School programs at 17 locations, and Summer Camp programs at 4 locations during summer break.

While we are a part of Kanawha County Schools, KCSCEP operates from a separate budget as a non-profit provider of after school care and summer child care. We do not receive funds from Kanawha County Schools or other government entities. The money we collect from our child care programs covers all operating expenses and is reinvested in the programs. We have also annually provided KCS with funding for new materials or special educational programs that promote drug awareness, bullying prevention and similar topics, as well as for facility improvements.

KCSCEP Director: Jennifer Mathis

KCSCEP Coordinator: John Peal

KCSCEP Specialist: Susan Nelson

We have an outstanding team of people who serve as Third Base Site Directors and Assistants, and we are always looking for people to join our team.
