Summer Camps

Open enrollment for Summer Camp 2026 starts on Wednesday, April 1. Enrollment is on a first come, first served basis. Placement is subject to availability of space at the desired site. Submission of the enrollment form is not a guarantee of placement. Should enrollment exceed available space, a wait list will be started for that site. Enrollment forms should be submitted to the KCSCEP office as noted on the cover page of the enrollment packet.

For Summer Camp 2026, KCSCEP is offering four summer camps for Kanawha County Schools students who were in kindergarten through fifth grade in the 2025-2026 school year.

Summer Camp provides a variety of recreational and educational activities and projects supervised by experienced staff. Each camp will go on field trips to the pool, the movies, bowling, and more! A calendar of events will be shared with parents/guardians of enrolled children.

  • Breakfast, lunch, and snack provided daily.
  • Weekly fee is due Monday (or the first day of the week your child attends). The fee is a weekly fee; there are no daily rates. We do not charge to hold slots when a child is not in attendance for a week (e.g., family vacation). Fees not paid on the first day due are subject to daily late payment fees. If fees are not paid by the end of the week, the child cannot return to the program until the account is paid in full.
  • CONNECT/LINK child care assistance is accepted. We must have a copy of your certificate or a notice of coverage before your child starts, unless you opt to start as Private Pay until your coverage is confirmed. If you currently have a certificate for Third Base or another childcare provider, you will need to call your caseworker to have it changed to the KCSCEP summer camp site. At the end of summer camp, you would request they switch it back to your Third Base or other provider. CONNECT/LINK copays are due weekly and must be paid in full by the end of the week or the child cannot return to the program until the account is paid in full.
  • The program revolves around weekly themes, swimming or water fun, guest speakers, arts and crafts, field trips, and a variety of recreational and education activities and projects supervised by experienced staff.
  • The program will be closed on June 19 (WV Day) and July 3 (Independence Day), which are holidays. No reduced rate for these weeks.
  • A Child Medical Form or similar well-visit report completed by your child’s doctor is required. You can either submit it with your enrollment, or turn in to the camp site director no later than the first week of attendance. If we don’t have it on file by then, your child will not be able to attend until we receive it.
  • Summer Camp is licensed through the West Virginia Division of Human Services (WV DoHS) as a child care center.
  • KCSCEP programs are not required to follow IEPs or 504s. We cannot provide one-on-one care. KCSCEP programs are a group setting and per licensing, we staff at 1 adult for every 16 children.

Please indicate on the attendance form what weeks you plan to use the service. We understand these plans are subject to change. This helps us with planning and purchasing materials.

The enrollment packet has more detailed information about summer camp. You must submit the completed enrollment form and be approved before your child can attend. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. Placement is subject to availability of space at the desired site. Submission of the enrollment form is not a guarantee of placement. You will be notified by email in early May if your enrollment has been approved and space is available for your child. The $30 family registration fee would be billed to your account and due the first day of attendance, along with your weekly fee. Register by May 8 to receive a $10 discount on your registration.

  • The fax number is 304-766-0389 (please call to confirm receipt of fax; we are not responsible for failed transmissions).

To be eligible for Summer Camp, your child must have been enrolled in Kanawha County Schools and had to have been in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade in the 2025-2026 school year. So the first year a child is eligible is when they have completed Kindergarten. The last year a child is eligible is the summer following completion of 5th grade.

When we receive your enrollment, we will email you to let you know we received it. This is NOT confirmation that your child has been approved to attend. You will be notified at a later date as to your enrollment status (approved or wait list). We will advise you if there is required information missing from your form that would hold up its processing so that you may correct this.

To start camp on June 8 (pending space availability), your enrollment must be received by May 29. If your enrollment is received after May 29, your child will have start date of June 15 or later, depending on space availability.

Please email or call our office if you have any questions.
